Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Mexico

The United Mexican States, or Mexico, shares a border with the United States to the north and Guatemala and Belize to the southeast, and is the most populous Spanish-speaking country in the world. With 31 states (estados) and a federal district, Mexico extends more than 3,000 km from the northwest to the southeast.

As a nation, Mexico is ethnically and culturally diverse, and current estimates show that about 60% of the population is mestizo (mixed Amerindian and white), while 30% is predominantly Amerindian. The rest of the population is white, a majority being from Spain, although the country also has a large population of people of German, Italian, French, Portuguese, British, Irish, and Russian origin, amongst others. The Mexican population is predominantly Roman Catholic, the second-largest Catholic population in the world after Brazil.

Mexico boasts of a rich heritage that comes from more than 3,000 years of great Mesoamerican civilizations like the Olmec, Teotihuacan, Toltec, and Aztec. These civilizations have enriched Mexico's heritage by contributing pyramid-temples, astronomy, mathematics, writing, medicine, calendars, fine arts, engineering, etc.

Mexico has a free-market economy estimated at about a trillion dollars. The country boasts a mixture of modern industry and agriculture, which is increasingly dominated by the private sector. The government today witnesses competition in railroads, seaports, telecommunications, natural gas distribution and airport. Although Mexico was struck by the economic turmoil in 1994, it swiftly recovered to become a robust economy. Current estimates show that the World Bank ranks Mexico 12th in the world in terms of GDP. For the enthusiasts, Mexico is what they call a ‘happening country.’

Mexican Cruises

If you are looking for a Mexican cruise, you have many choices. All the major cruise lines are booking Mexican cruises everyday. For example, Holland America sells many all inclusive Mexican cruises, as does, Royal Caribbean and many others.

There are many itineraries available for taking your Mexican cruise. You can cruise the Baja peninsula, go down through the Panama Canal or cruise the warm waters of the Caribbean side of Mexico. Mexican Cruises will start off, from ports on the Gulf of Mexico or Florida and sail the Yucatan and Western Caribbean.

Or they can depart from the west coast from ports like San Diego, Los Angeles and Long Beach, with Mexican cruises concentrating on the ports of this vast, diverse country that lie on the west coast of Mexico along the Pacific Ocean.

The Gulf of Mexico cruises sail the eastern coast, known as the Mayan Riviera to towns along the the Yucatan Peninsula, including Cozumel and Cancun.

Mexican cruises, known for being luxurious, allow you to move to mariachi music and meander through markets with mountains of colorful baskets, serapes and sombreros, combining day life with night life. You can do a little or as much as you can fit in.

You can take time to explore quaint fishing villages, colorful markets and ancient cultures, or go marlin fishing in Mazatlan, snorkeling in Cabo San Lucas or relaxing on the beaches of Puerto Vallarta with an icy Margarita in your hand.

No matter which cruise you take, Mexican cruises are enjoyable because of the many experiences you can have without the inconvenience of packing and unpacking. Of course, this is true of any cruise.

All Inclusive Vacations

Islands and cities along the coast offer an ideal setting for a quiet vacation. Most islands have a range of all inclusive resorts for the convenience of tourists. Hawaii and Florida are the popular spots in USA for quiet vacations. There are some resorts here which offer all inclusive packages. South of USA, there are many countries where all inclusive resorts can be found. Many islands off the coast south east of Mexico and the islands of West Indies have the advantage of both the sea and the hills. Resorts built in places of scenic beauty are ideal places for a quiet vacation. Some resorts which do not allow kids below a certain age can also be considered.

Mexico has a wide range of resorts to choose from. The Yucatan peninsula in the south east regions of Mexico has a number of resorts to choose from. Cancun is an oft-visited place and very popular. South of Cancun, there are places like Riviera Maya and Cozumel, which have resorts located in secluded areas. These are ideal for a quiet honeymoon or a romantic getaway. There are some resorts exclusively for adults. Since these resorts restrict the entry age to 18, quiet vacations can be enjoyed without disturbance from kids.

Caribbean vacations are also known to be quiet because of a number of small islands with a private ambience. The topography of the islands of eastern and southern West Indies is such that there are both beachside and hillside resorts. Bahamas, Barbados, Jamaica, Antigua, Puerto Rico and Dom Republic are some of the islands that have some good all inclusive resorts. They provide suites in a private area.

Rather than big islands, small islands are the places to go for a quiet vacation. In almost all of the small islands, the resorts are all inclusive to give a quiet and wonderful vacation for their tourists. Read More
